Year 3

Welcome to the Year 3 Webpage.

Welcome to Year 3. We have another exciting year ahead. Now the children have started their journey into Key Stage Two we are expecting them to be much more independent. Please do encourage them to take ownership of small tasks, such as carrying their own bags to school, remembering equipment or learning how to tie shoelaces.

There are some important changes for the children including that they provide their own snack for break time, please include a healthy snack for them in their lunchbox. We also expect the children to read at least 4 times a week at home to improve their reading stamina.

Once the children have been given reading books, we expect them to record their reading in their online reading journal every time they read. Any books or information that they have read with an adult or independently can be included in here - not just the books from school - and we can’t wait to see how much they enjoy reading lots of different texts.

Violin lessons will be held as a class and the children will be given a violin or

cello to use in these lessons.

Our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday.

Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit with their hair tied back and earrings removed.

Below is an example of our weekly timetable - wider curriculum includes subjects such as History, Geography, Science, Art and DT. It may change, as we often include additional activities such as skipping or cricket workshops.
