Admissions to Didcot Primary Academy

Admissions to the Nursery Class - Acorns

The Academy operates its own admissions for the nursery class. There will be 26 full time spaces available. These will be split into 30 hour and 15 hour spaces as needed (as per the criteria specified in the nursery admissions document on this page).

Children who attend nursery for 30 hours a week have the option of staying for lunch at a cost of £6 per day. The timings for 30 hour spaces are 8:45am till 11:45am and 12:30pm till 3:30pm. Lunch will be 11.45am to 12.30pm and children have to bring a packed lunch from home.

Children are eligible for a place in the nursery the term after they turn 3.  To enquire about spaces you can either telephone the school, email the office or come in person. Please note, we are unable to combine hours, so if you would like your child to attend our school nursery this will be either for every morning from 8:45am till 11:45am or for each afternoon 12:30pm till 3:30pm.

Admissions to Reception - Cherry and Hazel Class

Admissions to the Reception classes is organised by the County Council.  There are 60 available spaces each year.  We were over subscribed last year so would advise that you come and visit the school to find out more about us.  Pupils within our nursery class also need to apply for a place at the school through the County Council admissions process.  Click here to go to the online application.

Applying for a Reception Place

Full information on the application process for reception can be found on the Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) website.

School places are managed and allocated by OCC, the below information is taken from their site and is correct at the time of publication.

Arrangements For The Admission Of Pupils With Disabilities

We are always pleased to meet new parents in person and show them around. Please telephone the school to make arrangements, or write or call in – ask for our SENCO who will be happy to meet with you in the first instance so that we can do everything reasonably possible to meet your child's specific needs. You will always be welcomed.  We can also advise you on the application process if needed.

As far as possible, Omnia Learning Trust will try to meet parental preferences for schools but it is not always possible to do so. Places in schools are limited by the physical space in the school. Didcot Primary Academy has an admission limit of 60 children per year group.

The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 defines a disabled person as one who has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on a persons ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities

Most children with Special Needs will not be disabled within the meaning of the Act. The admission of pupils with disabilities is considered in the first instance in the same way as non-disabled pupils.  Further considerations are made in the light of need and accessibility.  It is the Trust's policy to accommodate pupils with disabilities should parents wish and individual needs are planned for, to prevent any pupils being treated less favourably than other pupils.  In practice we ensure that classroom and extra curricular activities encourage the participation of all pupils, including those categorised as having Special Educational Needs.  Staff organise human and physical resources within the school to increase access to learning and participation by all pupils.
