Outdoor Learning

Our outdoor learning curriculum gives students a chance to explore, discover, and learn in a different environment. It is an exciting and engaging way for children to develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. Students get to apply their knowledge from subjects like science, math, and art in a practical, hands-on way. They might be building a bug hotel, creating natural water filters or pond dipping. This type of learning helps build problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a love for nature.

Each term, a different year group will take part in dedicated outdoor learning sessions. Letters will be sent out with the specific dates for each class.

Autumn 1: Year 2

Autumn 2: Year 5

Spring 1: Year 4

Spring 2: Year 3

Summer 1: Year 6

Summer 2: Year 1

Our outdoor learning sessions will take place in almost all weather conditions, so it's essential that your child comes to school prepared on their assigned day. Please make sure they have the following:

  • Waterproof jacket

  • Waterproof trousers (if you have them)

  • Wellington boots or other sturdy, waterproof shoes

  • Warm layers (jumper, fleece) on colder days

  • Hat, scarf, and gloves in cold weather

  • Sun hat and sunscreen in warmer weather

Having the right equipment will ensure your child stays comfortable and can fully enjoy their outdoor learning experience.
