Getting off to a great start....
Our pre-school class (Acorn Class) is led by a teacher and supported by highly qualified assistants who are dedicated to ensuring that learning is at the heart of all that happens in sessions – through carefully planned play.
Exploring, questioning and experimenting opportunities are abundant in our well resourced classroom and outdoor learning space.
Children are eligible to enter our pre-school the term after they turn 3 if there are spaces available. For example, if they are 3 in April, they can start in September. If they are 3 in September they can start in January.
There are 24 morning places and 24 afternoon spaces. Every child is eligible for 15 hours of free pre-school education per week and in our school, this can be taken as morning sessions or afternoon sessions. From September 2026 sessions will run from 9:30am to 12:30pm and from 12:30pm to 3:30pm.
There are up to 24 x 30 hour spaces available for working parents (eligibility checks apply). These sessions run 9:30am to 3.30pm. There is a possibility for children attending 15h morning session and 30h nursery to start at 8.40am. Parents will need to book extended hours provision which costs £8 per day (your child must bring a packed lunch from home). Please note that the extended hours provision must be booked and paid for in advance.
We also offer morning or afternoon spaces (15 hours a week) for those children whose parents do not qualify for 30 hours of childcare. Please note that sessions can not be split across different providers.
There are three intakes a year: September, January and April (after the Easter holidays). We will only be able to accept pupils if there are sufficient spaces.
Uniform
We ask that children are in at least a basic uniform of school white polo shirt with or without logo and school purple sweatshirt with logo with your own choice of leg wear. Children should have trainers or closed shoes for indoors and be provided with wellies for outside (these need to be available every day). Sandals and crocs are not permitted within the pre-school class or the rest of the school. If you would like your child to wear the full school uniform this is up to you. Children will also need a school book bag.
