Citizenship

As part of our Jigsaw curriculum, children will learn about rules, human rights, responsibilities, democracy and how their actions affect local and global communities.

Core themes taught:

  • Rules, rights and responsibilities: Exploring why laws and school rules exist, balancing personal freedoms with duties to others and understanding basic human rights.
  • Democracy and government: learning how decisions are made, how local councils and local elections work and how citizens can voice opinions.
  • Diversity and inclusion: recognising and challenging prejudice and discrimination and respective different cultures, backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Environmental and financial literacy: building early awareness of money management and how to spot misleading information online.
